Oh my god, it's finally summer. And holy jeez, it's so  summer.  Already got some pretty high temperatures in June, although you won't ever find me complaining.  I know a lot of people can't stand the heat but I've been waiting all winter/spring to be able to wear shorts and sandals instead of pants and parkas. But it doesn't mean I don't like to enjoy a cold beverage during those 30+ degrees days. And honestly, while it isn't my first choice of drinks (I prefer lemonade or iced tea), I've always admired Coca-Cola's iconic brand and style.  Their advertisements, especially the vintage ones, have such strong brand recognition that I really wanted to try my hand at emulating the same feel.  For some of the photos, I tried to caption it with an appropriate slogan from Coke's long history of advertising. Have you ever tried a Super Lemon ?  Because you should really try a Super Lemon. Super Lemon has got to be one of my favourite candies.  They are, as the name implies, super sour, but also super delicious. And if you make it past the first layer of the super sour powder, the hard candy underneath is actually quite sweet. as sweet as these blossoms smelled :) And this preamble is totally related because this dress is named “Super Lemon”.  Yes, sometimes I give names to my clothes.  No, I’m sure I can't be the only one.  Shhh, don’t judge me so loudly; I can hear you through the internet. End of April always feels like an obligatory time to travel. The warming of the weather, the changing of the winds. Exams are done, and all the students head off -- some, for home; while others, anywhere but. I don't know where I was planning on going, but it doesn't seem to matter anymore. I've missed my train.  And now I'm stuck wherever I am. I think of my destination, all that I had planned to do, to see, to experience. A sigh of resignation.  What can I do now? I turn my head to the east -- there's nobody by my side. Oh wait!  I still have my four-stringed little buddy. Suddenly, the world's a little bit brighter. Reminding myself to try to find a reason to sm:)e For one day, my train will come. And these shoes will take me where I wanna go. Until then, mahalo  to the music that keeps me company. I originally wanted a rainy day theme for March's vintage shoot but we got more snow this month than we did in December... Welcome to springtime in Canada: where the weather's made up and the season doesn't matter. This shoot compared to January's and February's was many times more difficult, and I had gone out on not one, not two, but  three  separate occasions to try to complete this set (weather was super uncooperative).  So it's safe to say this batch of photos did not come easy -- although in the end, I'm pretty happy with the results.  Hope you enjoy these photos! After January and February's vintage posts, I admit to being a little overly-optimistic in how things work out for the vintage photoshoot ideas I have planned. I wanted to try an outdoor shoot for March but Ottawa got slammed with 50cm+ of snow in its first two weeks... so unfortunately, that didn't really align with the visuals I had in mind.  It was somewhat warmer (ie. raining) when I first started writing this blog post...but it looks like we're seeing some more snow.  So much for first week of Spring! Still, I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll be able to get a Spring-style shoot in before the end of the month. One weekend gave the slightest hint of the end of winter, at a record warmth of 2 degrees above zero, and so my new photog buddy Nick and I went on a photography walk around Parliament.
