Haikang's Spring Lookbook

Even before the final post of the 2017 Fashion project, I knew I wouldn't actually be done with fashion photography. And while I'm enjoying the fashion challenge of my 2018 personal lookbook project, I do miss the fun dynamic of shooting with others. So I reached out to my fashionmister buddy to see if he'd be interested in more fashion shoots and building a lookbook. If you couldn't tell, he agreed! And with the perfect spring-like weather finally  pulling through this past weekend -- I love it when everything comes together :) I tried some more graphics-y styling on some of the photos, just playing around but I think I like the effect! Sweater Weather with Haikang

Forget the Autumn Equinox or Thanksgiving, for me, it's not really fall until the leaves change colour and you bust out the cozy sweaters!  For October's fashion post, Haikang and I drove out to York Regional Forest to try to get some fall colours in our shoot. Oh yes, Princess Maycee joined us too! Adding that Golden Retriever glow to add to the yellow leaves :) I went for a "Fall Catalog" style for the actual fashion shots so scroll on down to take a look! Q: What are some of your favourite pieces for fall? My favourite fall attire has to be sweaters (all types!) I am personally a big fan of wool sweaters from Club Monaco and I own quite a few of them. Pairing wise, I love to pair sweaters with business casual blazers as they are usually appropriate for most occasions. Weekend Workout with Haikang

It seems that lately more and more people are becoming more health-conscious, and it's totally reflected in fashion as well with the pretty much established trend of "athleisure" (portmanteau of athletic and leisure). Basically, people want to be able to work out and still stay stylish. Who knew! So very excited to have had this opportunity to try an athletic themed shoot with Haikang and his beautiful golden, Maycee! Q: How do you put together workout or athletic outfits? A: Although I like to keep my workout shorts black (more resistant to dirt), I usually pick out brighter/louder shirts to go along with it. Most of my gym shoes are also bright orange because that is usually what others will notice first and it also makes me feel faster :) Lacing up for an afternoon run Stretching is important! Tee from Jack & Jones Athletic shorts from Nike Q: What do you look for when choosing athletic pieces? A: I am a big fan of vivid colours. As mentioned,...

Fast Cars with Haikang

Very excited for today's post for a number of different reasons: First off, this makes post #4 which means I'm already a third of the way through my 2017 fashion photography project! Each month has been so different, I honestly can't wait to see what the upcoming months will have in store. This month features our first look at my sole male model for this project, as well as some extra shots when I tried my hand at car photography. So without further blabbing from me, let's get to the good stuff :) Shirt from Massimo Dutti Pants from Banana Republic Q: Tell me a little bit about your style. A: I prefer a clean business casual look but with a modern touch (roll up pants with boat socks) Shoes from Steve Madden Q: What are some of your fashion inspirations?  A: I don’t think that there is a specific brand that I base my personal fashion on. However, I do shop a lot (online and in-store) and like to pick out my own pieces. If I ever do...

2017 Fashion Project

First official post of 2017 whoo!  As previously alluded to at the end of my last post, with the end of the 2016 Vintage project, I'll be starting a brand new project for 2017.  Specifically, I'll be looking to focus on phasion fotography -- ahem, fashion photography (doesn't it look so fancy in italics :P) There's a couple of reasons why I want to pursue this project.  The vintage project was great in pushing me to explore specific ideas and concepts that I had in mind, creating something that only existed in my imagination, and trying out self-portraiture.  Oh, not to mention the totally justified shopping sprees and playing dress-up hehe. However, I realized that I want to focus more on being behind the camera again.  There's a timing issue with self-portraits that relies heavily on a iterative process of reviewing and adjusting, and I found that I really missed the level of "in-the-moment" artistic direction I would have if I were behind the camera...

Beautiful Bruce Peninsula

Hello everyone!  Many apologies for the long hiatus.  I've been really caught up with some extra curricular activities.  On the plus side, I've also been fortunate enough to capture some gorgeous dancers on my camera (oops, I've revealed too much!) so I'm pretty darn excited for all the things I have planned. Just going to jump right to the photos of this post. Little recap since it's been a good while since I last posted. These photos are from a multi-family trip to the Bruce Peninsula (the same trip as the last post featuring the dogs ). My lovely ladies of the trip: Tina & my hand-picked prop of the day Sitting pretty at Flowerpot Island My cousin Crystal  At Sauble Beach The second photo of my cousin has an "interesting" glow -- when I went to Flowerpot Island the week prior to this trip, I noticed that despite the sunshiney weather, all the pros had their giant flashes going off.  I decided to experiment this time.  I...
