May in the Capital

Exciting news, everyone! Earlier this week marked the 5 year anniversary of my blog **hooraaay!** It also means I've been in Ottawa for almost just as long, as I moved to the capital a few short months afterwards. I've posted about my activities in Ottawa a couples times in the past but in this special "travel" post, I'll be sharing some newer photos as well as some others that I never got around to posting :) Starting off with some shots I took on a evening stroll by Dow's Lake. yes these are tulips!  Sometimes I genuinely forget how long I've been in Ottawa, notably whenever my Uber driver asks and I'm like, "oh I haven't been here that long, just since -- oh my god it's been like 5 years??" I was talking to my parents a few weeks ago and they asked if I plan on staying in Ottawa forever and if I think it's better than Toronto. And honestly, I get asked this question a lot . Everyone wants me to PICK...

Quebec City & Lavender Fields

As per tradition, last weekend for Canada day, we packed up our bags and headed out of town. It's been a busy year so far, and the last two major trips we both took were super action-packed and tiring. We decided that for this trip, we were going to take it easy and relax and drive to Quebec City. We both have been before so there wouldn't be as much pressure to do a bunch of the touristy things. The only thing on our list was to each delicious French food. And boy did we! The Food Our first stop was Ophelia for a quick lunch. We each had clam chowder (not pictured), octopus carpaccio, and fish accras (fritters). Nick really enjoyed the carpaccio but it had olives in it (which I don't like) so I steered clear. The fish accras were very fluffy on the inside and the flavour was yummy too. I think we both liked the clam chowder best, they were quite generous with the clam. octopus carpaccio fish accras For dinner, we tried to go to L'Affaire Est Ketchup ...

Family Photoshoot and MosaiCanada

Something different for today's blogpost! I've shared family photos on here before, but they've always been of my own family :P A little while back, I tagged along to Nick's photoshoot with his coworker and her family. They send an album each Christmas overseas to their relatives, which I think is a super sweet idea! One of my favourite shots of David playing by the fountain!  Another family with their little girl in the background, perplexed at the multiple cameras going off in their direction! It was a beautiful sunny day at the Canadian Museum of History. "You can't catch me!" We were only shooting outside but the family brought along many toys as fun props. If you couldn't tell already by his Thomas the Tank tee shirt, David loves trains. A happy family plays together :) There were also some cool cars parked on display outside the museum! Trading in toy trains for real cars? Also love ...
